Today we fly back to Australia.
But we still have some time until noon and go for coffee first. Then we drive to Hakarimata Scenic Reserve and go for a hike. The national park requires shoes to be cleaned and disinfected. The native trees have already been affected by bacteria. We take a break at the Upper Lookout for a great view of the Waikato River. Then we drive on and actually want to stop again at a lookout, but there is a traffic jam. A tow truck and an ambulance drive by and we notice that the principle of the emergency lane is not fully internalized in New Zealand. The next stop is canceled and we continue to our rental car company. When we get to the airport, we still have plenty of time. We finally land in Brisbane in the evening and make our way to our hostel.
