Jakarta –
Portugal finally able to lock the ticket to 2022 World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his gratitude for the support of the Portuguese people.
Portugal managed to beat North Macedonia in the race for tickets for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Wednesday (30/3/2022) early morning WIB. The Selecao das Quinas won 2-0 at the Estadio Do Dragao through a Bruno Fernandes brace.
This result makes Portugal never absent in six consecutive editions of the World Cup. However, the best achievement of Cristiano Ronaldo et al at that time was only finishing fourth in the 2006 World Cup.
“Goal achieved, we are in the Qatar World Cup, we are in the right place! Thank you to all the Portuguese for the tireless support! Forca Portugal!” wrote Ronaldo on his personal Instagram.
The World Cup in Qatar could be Ronaldo’s last chance to taste the world title. Given that he is currently 37 years old, it is almost impossible for CR7 to appear with Portugal in the next World Cup in 2026.
However, Ronaldo has not given a signal to retire from defending the Portugal national team after the 2022 World Cup. He was even annoyed when he was asked about his future against North Macedonia.
“I’ve started getting the same question many times. I’m the one who will determine my future, no one else,” said Ronaldo, quoted from the official Manchester United website, a few days ago.
“If I feel like playing more, I will play. If not, I don’t play. I’m in charge, period.”
