Cristiano Ronaldo for the first time to give a statement after Portugal defeated by Belgium in the round of 16 Euro 2020 (Euro 2021) at La Cartuja Stadium, Seville, Monday (28/6) early morning WIB.
Thorgan Hazard’s single goal in the first half ensured Belgium’s 1-0 victory over Portugal, who are defending champions at Euro 2020.
Ronaldo shows his annoyance after the match in Seville. CR7 threw and kicked the captain’s armband after Portugal was confirmed to lose and failed to defend the Euro title.
After being silent after Portugal lost to Belgium, Ronaldo used his Instagram account to reveal an emotional message. The Juventus player admitted that he was still proud despite failing to defend his title at Euro 2020.
“We didn’t get the result we wanted and had to leave the tournament early. But we are proud of the team’s journey. We gave everything to defend the title, and this group has proven to be a source of joy for the Portuguese people,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
Ronaldo then thanked the Portuguese people who continued to support Fernando Santos’ team at Euro 2020.

“Our fans have been tireless to support us from start to finish. We ran and fought for them, in order to repay the trust they put in the team. We weren’t able to achieve what we wanted, but we want to express our deep gratitude,” wrote Ronaldo.
Finally, Ronaldo congratulated Belgium, who will meet Italy in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.
“Congratulations to Belgium and good luck to all the teams still in the competition. As for us, we will come back even stronger. Forca Portugal!” wrote Ronaldo.
