Five-time world footballer Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t want to hang up his football boots for a long time. “My journey is not over yet, you will have to put up with ‘Cris’ for a while,” said the 37-year-old forward of Manchester United, the top English club, on Tuesday evening in Lisbon during an awards ceremony in which he was recognized by the FA Portuguese as the best scorer in international history.
“I want to be at the World Cup (2022) and the European Championships (2024). I am very motivated and ambitious,” said Ronaldo, who has scored 117 goals in 189 international matches with his home country. The EURO in two years will take place in Germany. The Portuguese, who will play his tenth final in Qatar, will remain a pillar of coach Fernando Santos’ team for the World Cup, which begins on 20 November.
With his brace against Ireland in September 2021, Ronaldo surpassed former international world record scorer Ali Daei (Iran), who scored 109 international goals.
