Save Ukraine Nowan initiative created in Ukraine to help the army of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, has auctioned a shirt signed by the footballer Cristiano Ronaldo with which they have obtained more than two thousand euros, reports the local agency Ukrinform on Monday.

“We have incredible news! The story of the shirt reached Cristiano Ronaldo and today we received the following reaction from the legendary footballer: ‘I hope that my shirt for the match with Ukraine 2019 can help young people to have a better future and I want to congratulate the Ukrainian Football Association for this action. Praying for peace: Cristiano Ronaldo,” the Save Ukraine Now center posted on Facebook.

Ronaldo’s signed shirt was sold for 70,000 UAH (the local Ukrainian currency) at the charity auction, which comes to around 2,200 euros at current exchange rates.

The funds obtained will be used to buy medicine for the military, cites the organization.

Ukrinform reminds that the charity auction to raise funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine was held online from June 22 to 26.

The jersey, signed by the famous Portuguese player at the Portugal-Ukraine match on March 22, 2019 in Lisbon, belonged to a 14-year-old boy from Ivano-Frankivsk, the source added.

Save Ukraine Now Center explains on its page that it was created to meet the needs of the military battalions of the Ivano-Frankivsk region on the front line.
