Jakarta –
Recently Cristiano Ronaldo highlighted for being like a manager. Some think Ronaldo will be reprimanded if Manchester United is still being coached by Sir Alex Ferguson.
The assessment was made by Martin Keown, a former England international who is now an observer and analyst. He considered Ronaldo’s attitude like a manager was not right.
“It has to know its place and it has to sit,” Keown said on talkSPORT.
“I’m pretty sure Solskjaer will handle it in the right way, maybe he’s happy too, but you have to remember there is only one manager.”
“In my opinion, with Sir Alex it will not be like that. He (Sir Alex) might even be quicker to remind the player concerned, but the player is like that,” he said of Cristiano Ronaldo.
In the Portugal national team, coach Fernando Santos seemed to give Ronaldo permission to stand beside him on the touchline during matches such as the one that recently happened at Man United. But Keown judged that it had become a bad habit.
“We saw him do that in European Cup matches; he injured his knee and stood for most of the game. So they have to sort it out, I just feel this has become a negative thing,” said the talkSPORT pundit.
The same thing has been said before by Rio Ferdinand, a former United defender who also played with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“If I were the manager, to be honest, I would ask him to sit down,” Rio Ferdinand told BT Sports.
