Cristiano Ronaldo texted Piers Morgan after the game World Cup 2022 Portugal vs Uruguay that it was he who scored the first goal, not Bruno Fernandes.
Portugal won 2-0 against Uruguay in Group H of the 2022 World Cup at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Tuesday (29/11) in the morning WIB. Two of Portugal’s winning goals were scored by Bruno Fernandes.
Ronaldo was declared Portugal’s first goalscorer in the 54th minute. But then match officials reversed the decision that Portugal’s first goalscorer was Fernandes.
In replays, Ronaldo’s header can be seen not to hit the ball when he welcomed Fernandes’ free kick before the goal was scored. But Ronaldo claimed the ball had hit his head.
Even after the match, in a series of videos that went viral on social media, Ronaldo was seen still insisting that the ball hit his head before it entered the goal.
Interestingly, after the match, Ronaldo also texted Piers Morgan to let him know that he was a legitimate top scorer. This was revealed by the legend of the United States, Alexi Lalas, to Fox Sports.
“The latest news is that Cristiano Ronaldo has not been declared a goalscorer, even though he claims to have touched the ball,” said Lalas.
“I was alone with Piers Morgan. He said that Cristiano texted him from the dressing room, saying he was sure the ball had hit his head. So I don’t know who’s right,” Lalas continued.
Piers Morgan is an English presenter that Ronaldo relies on to interview CR7 about the problems at Manchester United before the 2022 World Cup.
Portugal themselves were confirmed to qualify for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup after winning 2-0 over Uruguay. A draw against South Korea in their final group match on 2 December was enough for Portugal to win Group H.
