Portugal’s football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (36) has equalized the goal world record of former Bundesliga professional Ali Daei. With his international goals 108 and 109 against world champions France at the end of the European Championship group stage, the five-time world footballer set the record for the Iranian who had played in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich, Arminia Bielefeld and Hertha BSC on Wednesday. With the goals in his 178th international match, Ronaldo now has five tournament goals.
In addition, the Juventus striker extended his lead in the all-time European championship scorer list, where he now has 14 goals. France icon Michel Platini continues to run second (9 goals). Ronaldo is the only player who was successful in five European Championship finals (2004: 2 goals / 2008: 1/2012: 3/2016: 3/2021: 5). Platini had scored all goals at the home European championship in 1984.
