Manchester. After the last Premier League home game of the season with Manchester United, football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo thanked the club’s supporters on social media.
“Once again, great support from the stands,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram after the 3-0 win over Brentford FC. The Portuguese, who added a penalty to make it 2-0 at Old Trafford, thanked the “incredible fans who endured a difficult season with us and never let us down”.
The tabloid newspaper “Mirror” had speculated at the weekend about Ronaldo’s early departure in the summer. It didn’t sound like it in the striker’s Instagram message. “Our goal is to get better every day,” Ronaldo wrote, “so we can achieve what we all want: glory for Man United!”
Manchester United will finish this season without a title and, being sixth in the table, has practically no chance of qualifying for the Champions League. Interim coach Ralf Rangnick will be succeeded by previous Ajax coach Erik ten Hag in the summer. Rangnick will then only work as a consultant for the Red Devils, he will take over as coach of the Austrian national team.
