As reported by the club, which altered its statutes this Friday in order to allow the operation, Ronaldo will disburse 400 million reais (72.7 million dollars) for 90% of the shares of the entity, now converted into a commercial corporation.
“I am very happy to conclude this operation. I have a lot to give back to Cruzeiro and I want to take it to the place where it should be,” said Ronaldo, referring to the current situation of the club, in the Brazilian Second Division for two years.
According to Ronaldo, “there is a lot of work ahead” and for that the support of the Cruzeiro fans will be necessary, one of the greats of Brazilian football but which has been immersed in a deep financial crisis since 2019, with debts in excess of 300 million Dollars.
After having played for Cruzeiro between 1992 and 1994, Ronaldo began his European experience, which led him first to PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter, Real Madrid and culminated in Milan, from which in 2008 he returned to Brazil to finish his career at Corinthians, in 2011.
