Ronaldo accused of fake laughter as Ramos shines in Portugal against Switzerland

Jakarta, CNNI Indonesia

Cristiano Ronaldo accused of feigned laughter when Goncalo Ramos shone in the duel between Portugal and Switzerland in the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, Wednesday (7/12) early morning WIB.

Ronaldo became a backup in the match between Portugal and Switzerland in the knockout stage. It was the first time that CR7 was a substitute player at the 2022 World Cup.

Portugal manager Fernando Santos has made a big gamble by deploying 21-year-old striker Goncalo Ramos in place of Ronaldo at the forefront of the Portuguese national team.

The game between Portugal and Switzerland was Ramos’ first start at this year’s World Cup. Santos’ confidence received a perfect response from Ramos.

The Benfica man scored a hat-trick in Selecao das Quinas’ 6-1 win against Switzerland. Ramos’ brilliant performance received a positive response from Ronaldo.

CR7 smiles satisfied when Goncalo Ramos bursts into the Swiss goal. Ronaldo came off the bench to celebrate with other reserve players. However, netizens felt that Ronaldo’s laughter when Ramos scored the second goal was fake.

“Ronaldo’s false laugh when Ramos scored his second goal. He must be angry,” said one netizen quoted by Daily Star.

Being a reserve player doesn’t make Ronaldo disappear from the spotlight. Photographers from various media rushed to take pictures of Ronaldo on the bench.

Aside from that, the fans at Lusail Stadium were also busy shouting Ronaldo’s name. On several occasions, Ronaldo still smiles. Even if sometimes he wears a frown. For this reason, netizens believe that Ronaldo is disappointed when he sees Ramos’ brilliance.

“Here Ronaldo is forcing laughter, but he’s dying of rage inside,” said another netizen.

“Ronaldo. He forced himself to laugh,” another netizen replied.
