Ronald Koeman believes that Ajax striker Brian Brobbey still has plenty of room for improvement. The national coach sees the 21-year-old attacker up close at the Dutch team and sees that, among other things, the finishing can be improved.
“I still hope that he will develop further,” Koeman said in the TV program on Monday Rondo about Brobbey. “We had him there during the previous international match. Then we were finishing and then you saw that his first assumption and way of finishing were not good.”
“Then I wonder: what do you do as a striker at the clubs you have been to? John Bosman, with all due respect, should then become the striker coach he is looking forward to. How long has he been at Ajax? As a staff and trainer, I Why don’t you do something extra?”
Koeman sees sufficient potential in Brobbey, who has been included in the pre-selection for the last two European Championship qualifiers. “If you train on finishing every day, at a certain point you will be able to finish better technically. He is developing well now. Let’s hope it continues like this.”

Koeman: ‘There is still a lot missing at Ajax’
Koeman acknowledged that Brobbey does not play in a fluent team at Ajax. The Amsterdam club has found its way up under new coach John van ‘t Schip with two victories. Yet Koeman thinks it is unfair that the accusing finger is now being pointed at former coach Maurice Steijn.
“Look at what didn’t go well between the trainer and the technical director (Sven Mislintat, ed.). Of course, a lot went wrong in the organization. The team is not as bad as the rankings made it seem. But there is a lot missing. .”
Koeman met relieved Ajax players in the past international match. “The Ajax players were happy to be away for a while. Steven Bergwijn has always done very well for me. Fortunately, he has improved again in the last matches,” said Koeman, who has a lot of confidence in Van ‘t Schip . “I think he is the right choice. He handles it in the right way, with the human aspect.”
The Dutch team will play the last two matches in the European Championship qualification against Ireland and Gibraltar on November 18 and 21. Koeman’s team can hardly miss a ticket for the final tournament in Germany.
