Ron Howard is set to direct his first animated film, which will be released on Netflix.
The 68-year-old filmmaker is said to be working on the Netflix project ‘The Shrinking of Treehorn,’ an adaptation of Florence Parry Heide’s 1971 children’s book of the same name, which will feature illustrations by Edward Gorey.
According to ‘Deadline’, ‘Peter Rabbit’ writer Rob Lieber adapted the script for the film, and Howard’s own Imagine Entertainment production company is producing the flick alongside Animal Logic. The film has been described as a musical set in New York City during the holiday season. The story is about a little boy named Treehorn, who one day begins to shrink – but his parents don’t notice. Already a renowned Hollywood director, Howard has previously impressed with films such as ‘Frost/Nixon’ and ‘A Beautiful Mind’. Howard also filled in for original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller on the filming of 2018’s ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’.
