“Ron DeSantis to Run for Republican Nomination for President in 2024, NBC Reports”

According to the American television network NBC wants the Republican governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis (44), to announce that he is running for the Republican presidential nomination for 2024.

Three unnamed sources have reportedly told the network that DeSantis will announce his candidacy in a discussion with Twitter CEO Elon Musk (51).

Musk has also shared a message on Twitter from a Fox News journalist who says DeSantis will announce he’s entering the race for the presidential nomination Wednesday night in a conversation with the Twitter chief.

The conversation will take place as an event on Twitter Spaces, the website’s platform for audio chats. The event will take place at 00:00 Norwegian time on Wednesday.

The chairman will be Davis Sacks, who is a friend of Musk and among DeSantis’ supporters, according to NBC.

The relationship could be a significant boost for DeSantis by giving him an introduction to and credibility with Musk’s massive following — including his 140 million Twitter followers.

Trump’s strongest challenger

44-year-old DeSantis is considered by many to be ex-president Donald Trump’s (76) strongest challenger in the battle for the Republican nomination before the presidential election in 2024. US President Joe Biden (80) has confirmed that he will run for re-election.

So far, only two Democrats have confirmed they will challenge him — lawyer and anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (69) and the writer Marianne Williamson (70).

DeSantis was re-elected as Florida’s governor in November, but has held off announcing his intention to run.

According to polls, Republican voters currently prefer Trump to DeSantis as their presidential candidate.
