Rompers: the kings of disguise seek a new crown | Radio Club Tenerife | Present

If there is a murga at the Santa Cruz Carnival that is distinguished by the care of its presentations and costumes, that is Los Mamelucos. Xerach Casanova’s group presented this Friday on the Guimerá tables the fantasy with which they will seek their eighth consecutive Presentation First.

Since Los Trabas were imposed in this section in 2012, there has been hardly any discussion or debate about the ‘mamel’ hegemony in the award for best costume. Last year they clearly beat Diablos and Ni Mucha; and the previous one signed an unforgettable double after appearing on the stage of the Fairground together with the Sarymánchez Grandchildren.

The novelty this time is that the Gran Canaria Josué Quevedo debuts in the design of the costume. The fantasy is entitled ’40 years of good luck ‘, referring to the birthday of these Carnivals in the society chaired by Manolo Peña.

Quevedo takes over from Lito Díaz, who in turn replaced professor Javier Torres Franquis last year, now at the controls of the Carnival stage.
