Romelu Lukaku is one of the names that gets people talking during this summer transfer window. And on that note, the striker who still belongs to Chelsea reacted to reports linking him with Juventus this summer, after being confronted by an Inter Milan fan.
Indeed, the 30-year-old Belgium international expressed his hesitation over a move to Turin when an Inter fan accosted him outside the Brussels training center where he is currently training. Asked about the possibility of a transfer to Juventus, Lukaku answered : “No, no…I don’t think the deal will be done”.
As a reminder, the Belgian striker was the subject of interest from Juventus this summer, after being put up for sale by Chelsea. The player is expected to join a growing list of players who have been shipped off by the Blues, in what has been a massive roster shake-up this summer. The former Mancunian has reportedly turned down offers from Saudi Arabia as he is keen to stay in Europe next season.
Besides, Lukaku’s preference for Europe has somewhat limited his options, with Juventus and Inter Milan being the only two clubs linked with the striker. Inter have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign the striker, having been offended by Lukaku’s decision to enter into negotiations with rivals Juventus.
So, it will be interesting to see if the 30-year-old striker will eventually complete a move to the Old Lady this summer and how that might affect his already struggling relationship with Inter Milan. Besides, Lukaku spent the 2022-23 football campaign on loan with the Nerazzurri, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists across competitions.
