Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Striker Inter MilanRomelu Lukaku was in the spotlight in the opponent’s match Manchester City in the finals Liga ChampionsSunday (11/6) early morning WIB.
Lukaku did not play as a key player in that match because Simone Inzaghi preferred Edin Dzeko as Lautaro Martinez’s partner on the front lines. Lukaku only played in the 57th minute to replace Dzeko.
Since Lukaku came in, Inter’s attacks have looked more alive and dangerous. However, it was Manchester City who scored the first goal through Rodri in the 68th minute.
Two minutes after Rodri’s goal, Inter actually had a chance to equalize through Federico Dimarco. Dimarco stood free in the chaos that occurred in front of Man City’s goal.
Dimarco then fired a header and the ball hit the crossbar. The wild ball was again chased by Dimarco. He managed to head the ball but the ball hit Lukaku who was in the ball’s path.
Even though Dimarco’s header was also not necessarily a goal because there were Ruben Dias and John Stones near the goal line, Lukaku’s position, which was in a straight line with Dimarco, clearly made Inter miss opportunities.
After this moment, Lukaku also threw away the golden opportunity he got in the 88th minute. Lukaku received a mature pass from Robin Gosens’ header.
Standing in front of goal, Lukaku then headed the ball hard. Unfortunately, the direction of Lukaku’s header was right into the middle of the goal where Ederson was.
Ederson was able to save the header and then Ruben Dias slid the ball out of bounds.
Lukaku also tried to make amends for that mistake by firing a left foot shot. But the ball is still far from the target.
Until the game ended, the score was 1-0 for Manchester City. Lukaku also had to accept the fact that Inter only finished runners up in the Champions League.
