Romelu Lukaku Transfer: Roma in Advanced Talks to Acquire Chelsea Striker

Are you going back to Italy? Romelu Lukaku’s hours in London are about to run out. The striker’s stay at Chelsea has ended, since he is not included in the projects of the Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino. The ‘Blue’ team is prepared to let the striker go, and at this juncture, the managers of Roma have traveled to the English capital with the clear purpose of acquiring the goalscorer’s services.

After the incorporation of the young Ecuadorian Moisés Caicedo to the English team, the destiny of Romelu Lukaku has undergone a radical change in the last few hours. As a result, Chelsea have begun considering the option of loaning out the striker, marking a significant change in approach to him. Lukaku, who has already given his approval to Roma’s stakeholders, is involved in this new dynamic.

Due to his poor performance and his record at Inter Milan, Lukaku is facing difficulties in finding a new club and finalizing a new contract. After a year on loan with the Italian team, the Belgian returned to Chelsea. However, his situation in the London team has become complicated because Pochettino excluded him, reaching the point that the striker has not even trained with the ‘Blues’ squad.

Before the end of the transfer period in Europe, Lukaku’s priority is to separate from the Stamford Bridge team; however, the talks are at an impasse. Apparently, Serie A is the intended destination for the Belgian, although his return to Inter Milan is ruled out, since his relationship with the directors of the Neroazzurri club deteriorated after confirmation that the striker had explored a possible transfer to Juventus.

According to what was reported by ‘Sky Sport’, the sporting director Tiago Pinto and the vice president of Roma, Ryan Friedkin, undertook a trip to London this afternoon. His goal is first to witness the match between Chelsea and Luton, and then hold a meeting with the leadership of the Blue team. All of this is happening in the context of ongoing negotiations.

The journalist Fabrizio Romano announced through social networks that the striker is in advanced talks with Roma. “Roma have submitted a substantial initial offer including loan terms, and they are currently discussing the salary aspects. Negotiations continue in London, with the board directly involved, ”he communicated. In addition, he explained that the details of the salary agreement are being finalized.

Although Juventus appeared to be on track to acquire Lukaku, the transfer fell through, leading Roma to express interest in the striker due to injury to striker Tammy Abraham. Regarding the possibility of the arrival of the Belgian, the coach of the Roman team, José Mourinho, commented: “An agreement with Lukaku? The club has informed me that we are going to sign another striker, and that fills me with joy”, revealed the Portuguese strategist.

‘Mou’ welcomes the arrival of Lukaku

La ‘Gazzetta’ also reports that Mourinho has contacted the player to incorporate him into his project. The Portuguese coach previously had Lukaku under his direction for a few months at Chelsea (2013-14) and at Manchester United (2017-18). Under his tutelage, the striker participated in 76 games and scored 33 goals, alternating between the Bridge and the Theater of Dreams.

In the words of Lukaku in the ‘Lightharted Podcats’: “We always clash, but I respect him as an individual. I think he respects me too.” For his part, Mourinho shared in the ‘Times’: “He is a big man, physically strong, but there is also a child inside who needs support, affection and to feel relevant”.

Meanwhile, the media are discussing the possibility of the team from the Italian capital signing Romelu Lukaku, although the Portuguese coach has chosen to remain cautious. “I can’t speak about someone who is still a Chelsea player,” Mourinho stressed at a press conference. However, he stressed that the club’s management has assured him that there will be a reinforcement in the forward position before the market closes.
