Romelu Lukaku arrived in Milan on Wednesday morning to complete his return to Inter on loan, just a year after being transferred to Chesea where he never won.

English and Italian media had assured last week that Chelsea and Inter Milan had found common ground to allow the return to Italy of the Red Devil. A year after selling 29-year-old Lukaku for some €115m, Inter are set to shell out €8m – excluding bonuses – on a season-long loan.

“Big Rom” must pass his medical examination Wednesday morning in Milan to finalize this return, according to several Italian media.

True spearhead of Inter crowned champion of Italy in 2021, the powerful striker has never won with the “Blues”, regularly left on the bench by coach Thomas Tuchel.

By finding the Nerazzurri, he hopes in particular to revive a few months before the 2022 World Cup.

The former Everton and Manchester United striker, who became an idol of the San Siro during his two years at the top of the team then coached by Antonio Conte (2019-2021), would have agreed to lower his salary to be able to find the blue and black tunic alongside the Argentinian Lautaro Martinez, with whom he can reform their dreaded duo, nicknamed the “LuLa”.

In two seasons at Inter, Lukaku had scored 64 goals in 95 matches, notably allowing the Milan club to reach the Europa League final in 2020 and win the Scudetto the following year.
