Unleashed opposition and furious mayor. The case of Silvia Di Manno, 45 years old, companion of the councilor for the budget, Gianni Lemmetti, hired on the staff of another exponent of the Capitoline junta, the holder of the delegation to Urban Planning, Luca Montuori. A contract, as revealed by Repubblica and Il Tempo, worth 23 thousand euros a year, but only a few months away from the elections. Virginia Raggi now he is asking for a step backwards for Di Manno, after the controversy raised by the Democratic Party and the Brothers of Italy. Or, if not, a resolution of revocation. As leaked by the entourage of the first town through the press agencies, the mayor had not participated in the council vote with which the appointment was formalized.
Always what transpires from Palazzo SenatorioRays would have learned only from the newspapers that the woman was linked to her councilor. The legislation, in fact, prohibits a councilor from hiring a relative, relative or person with whom an “emotional relationship” is in progress. There is nothing, in theory, to prevent this from taking up service with another proxy holder. And in fact Montuori had replied by explaining that “Di Manno will certainly be very good”. But, argue the opposition, “the junta is a collegial body and the constraint must also be extended transversally”.
In the text of the recruitment resolution of March 15, 2021, we read that “the city planning councilor, Luca Monturi, asked to proceed with the preparation of the necessary acts aimed at establishing a fixed-term employment relationship with Dr. Silvia Di Manno, who will be entrusted with the task of taking care of the daily organization of institutional commitments, contacts and relations with other departments ”, hence the agenda of the same councilor. Di Manno, originally from Pietrasanta in the province of Lucca, he would have temporarily quit his job at a bookstore in Viareggio.
Before the agencies, in the afternoon, broke the news of the mayor’s discontent, the opposition was unleashed asking for clarification. Brothers of Italy, through Francesco Figliomenti, announced access to the documents and a question “to stop the grillina comrade-in-law”, while the Melonian leader Andrea De Direct claims that the Capitol has become a “5-star employment office”. “We asked – the two affirm – to acquire the curricula vitae of the various candidates who have proposed, duly registered” and “we await to know from the general secretary the legitimacy of the operation since art. 31 of the Statute of Rome capital city establishes that collaborators hired in these ways must not have any relationships of emotional bond with the holders of offices “.
The Democratic Party also has a straight leg, which at present will field its own candidate against Raggi in the next administrative elections. The dem try to broaden the field also to other recent appointments: “We want to know the criteria on the basis of which they were established new hires and why figures so close to Virginia Raggi’s team were selected ”, say the Pd councilors in a joint note.
