The mural dedicated to Sergio Leone. A tribute to the city where one of the greatest directors and screenwriters in the history of Italian and world cinema was born and raised. The work, created 33 years after his death, was promoted by As Roma and Ater with the patronage of the Lazio region. The Giallorossi club showed off the beautiful design by posting a photo on its social channels. But was Sergio Leone really a Roma fan? In a recent interview on Rai1 dated October 2021, during “Domenica In”, Carlo Verdone, his great friend, had revealed the footballing faith of the legendary director. The Roman actor, without too many hesitations, stated: “Once I went to Ostia, my daughter was not very well and the doctor advised me to let her breathe some sea air. Returning from Ostia, I stopped at the EUR where Sergio lived and I went to visit him at home: he was there, a bit sleepy, he was listening to his Lazio on the radio, because he was a Lazio fan, took my daughter and began to play with it. For me that was a beautiful, special moment, because I was able to introduce him to my little daughter. Shortly thereafter he would get sick and then he would die. ” There is no absolute truth, but it is really difficult for Verdone to be wrong on such an important detail.
