26-year-old Nikola Dimitrov proposed marriage to his beloved Denitsa Cherneva from the biggest stage of Rozhenski Polyani. The 23-year-old candidate did not hesitate and loudly said “Yes”. The proposal was made in front of tens of thousands of guests at the council, who were also pleasantly surprised and touched by Nicholas’s brave act.
Denitsa was “lured” to go on stage, where Nikola was performing the “buenik” dance with his group, under the pretext that he had to present them with a diploma.
“It’s so unexpected, I’m so excited and I love this boy so much. I just had to hand them the diploma, I did not expect such a thing”, said the future wife.
“This is a very special place for me. For the first year I go out with my band on stage to play. And I thought that the situation, the occasion, was the best to ask for her hand in marriage”, Nikola added.
After the proposal, the young people were greeted with the emblematic Rhodope song “Come, you are wrapped, the girl is forgiven by the family”.
Denitsa and Nikola are from Yambol. They have been together for 6 months, but for both of them this time is enough and they have already realized that they are for each other.
Thousands of people gathered for the second day of the assembly of folk creativity. They crowded the Rozhensky meadows at noon and started a big dance. The large family of Georgi Georgiev arrived all the way from Varna, having traveled all night to introduce the granddaughters to Bulgarian traditions.
“They should not only know what is in the city, they should also know how people used to live, what music they listened to. It’s not just discos and bars, there are other interesting places to visit,” comments Ivan Ilchev.
“I love folk music, dancing, I have played. Something that’s in my soul and I can’t get rid of it. When the bagpipes play, I’m in the choir,” says Georgi Georgiev.
More than 7,000 people from all over the country sing and dance on the four stages of Rozhenski Polyani.
“Our group is taking part in this assembly for the first time, which is a dream of our older participants, which has already come true,” says Dimitrichka Radusheva.
