Romano Schmid has developed into an important player at Werder Bremen. The Austrian will continue to wear the green and white jersey in the future.
Werder Bremen has extended the contract with midfielder Romano Schmid early. The Bundesliga soccer team announced this on Wednesday evening. As always, the Green-Whites did not provide any information about the term of the contract. The 23-year-old Austrian has been playing for the North Germans since summer 2020 and has now developed into an absolute regular player.
“Romano has developed very well with us in recent years. He made his debut as an Austrian senior national player during his time at Werder and we are convinced that his development is not yet over,” said Bremen’s football boss Clemens Fritz.
Schmid moved from RB Salzburg to Werder in January 2019, but was then loaned straight to Wolfsberger AC in his home country. He only came to the Weser in the summer of 2020 and has since played 103 competitive games for Bremen.
