Fabrizio Romano has it Claimed on the Here We Go podcast West Ham rejected a loan offer to the Argentine international and Cagliari forward Giovanni Simeone rejected it. He explains why.
West Ham have been closely linked with several players in the January window as they looked to bring in a replacement for Ivory Coast international Sebastian Haller after his move to Ajax. But they did not.
In fact, an offer to Sevilla manager Yusef al-Nusiri, among others, was rejected in addition to his affiliation with Josh King, who eventually joined Everton in the closing moments of Deadline Day. Romano says another was attacked.
Simeone, the son of Atlético de Madrid coach Diego, was the subject of an initial £ 900,000 loan offer, but the move fell through because Cagliari wanted a commitment to buy him, something the Hammers were unwilling to do.

“Giovanni Simeone was a possibility for West Ham”, Romano said. “He is playing for Cagliari, but he is not having a good season. West Ham offered a loan with option, and offered 1 million euros in loan commissions ”.
“But Cagliari said not just because he was the initiator. They said no to a loan and wanted a purchase commitment, but West Ham said no and collapsed, but one possibility was West Ham. “
TBR opinion – Simeone has been poor this season
Only five goals came in 18 games for Cagliari. Simeone is a complete striker, not a specialist specifically in speed, strength, head or technical ability, but he’s decent in all of those areas.
He has a pretty good record in Italy, just one goal away from scoring half a century in the first division, but it took 164 matches to reach that number, for players like Genoa, Fiorentina and Cagliere. West Ham can do better.
