Several Romanians were stranded in Italy after the driver of the minibus they were in was arrested by the police because he was an international criminal.
According to the Italian police, the Romanians were on Highway 34, towards the border with Slovenia, when the car they were in was pulled over by the police. During the routine check, the Italian police also checked whether the driver, a 31-year-old Romanian, was on the list of wanted persons in the European Union.
They immediately realized that the man was wanted internationally after being convicted in our country.
He had committed traffic offenses and managed to leave Romania before being caught by the authorities. More specifically, the driver had driven without a license and while intoxicated.
The man was arrested on the spot and incarcerated at an area jail and is undergoing extradition proceedings.
Romanian travelers had to fend for themselves to reach Romania.
