A 50-year-old woman was caught at Otopeni Airport when she wanted to enter the country with her three grandchildren, although two of them did not have legal documents belonging to them. The woman told the border police that those children did not have valid documents, and those presented to the control belong to close relatives, reports news.ro
“On October 7 this year, at 2:55 a.m., a 50-year-old female, a Romanian citizen, presented herself at the document control, on the way to enter the country, coming from the direction of Los Angeles, via Varşovia from Vâlcea county, together with 3 minors (two girls and a boy), whom she declared were her grandchildren. The border police officers checked the documents and found that one of the minors (1 year old) has an authentic and valid travel document, while the two minors are not the same person from the documents presented”, it is stated in a press release sent on Sunday by the Border Police.
“Immediately contact was made with DGASPC Ilfov who sent a representative to the scene, and investigations were continued to establish the real identity of the minors. Thus, it was established that they are Romanian citizens, aged 8 and 2, respectively. At the same time, it was established that the woman is, indeed, the paternal grandmother of the three children. She stated that this method was resorted to because the children did not have valid documents, and the authentic ones presented belonged to close relatives”, the statement states.
The grandmother of the three children is now being investigated, in a state of freedom, with a criminal file being drawn up in her name. “Consequently, the grandmother of the three minors was ordered to be investigated in a state of freedom for the crimes of instigation to forgery regarding identity, instigation to fraudulently cross the state border, forgery regarding identity and attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border . The entire activity was carried out in the presence of the DGASPC Ilfov representative, the minors being allowed to enter the country together with their grandmother, following which, later, the social workers will carry out an investigation at the persons’ home in Vâlcea”, the Border Police said.
