13 January 2024 21:38

Dozens of Romanian tractors and trucks blocked completely the border crossing with Bulgaria near Calafat, reports BTA correspondent Martina Gancheva. “This is our next action in protest against the increase in the price of liability insurance, the increase in the prices of gasoline and diesel, the reduction of European subsidies and the long wait at the borders,” said local farmers and transporters, quoted by local media. They concluded Vehicles and left them in place. “Tomorrow morning we will return”, the demonstrators specify.

The protests, which began spontaneously on Wednesday, continue to create traffic difficulties, blocking the ring road of Bucharest and the entrance arteries of a number of major cities. On Friday, after a meeting with the demonstrators, the prime minister announced that several working groups would be established to analyze the demands of the protesters.

On Monday (January 15) the first working group will meet on agricultural issues, on January 16 (Tuesday) a meeting will be held on transport issues, and on January 17 (Wednesday) the working group on civil liability insurance issues.
