Romanian Minister of Finance Marcel Boloș: State Budget Funding Requirement Reaches 47 Billion Lei; Government to Eliminate Facilities for Private Sector Including SMEs, Criticizes Multinationals

Marcel Boloș, the Minister of Finance, said on Antena 3 on Tuesday that the funding requirement for the state budget is 47 billion lei. He also stated that the government will eliminate the facilities granted to the private sector, especially SMEs, because it can no longer afford these facilities, and criticized the multinationals.

“They are multinationals with tens of billions of lei in turnover and with a fiscal loss or modest profit, like micro-enterprises,” he said.

He announced that at the moment the governing coalition is considering a 1% turnover tax for large companies, but also a surcharge for banks.
