A 46-year-old Romanian suspected of driving into the police in Heerenveen in 2013 has been arrested. The Public Prosecution Service reports that the police tracked down the man through DNA research.
The man is suspected of driving into two police officers during a check on an industrial estate in Heerenveen on August 3, 2013. The police felt seriously threatened and shot at the car. They fired at least four bullets. A manhunt lasting several hours followed.
After the incident, two other Romanians were arrested, but it turned out that they had not driven the car. The case against those two men has therefore been dismissed.
