Romania considers removing COVID restrictions – World

Romania may soon abandon green passes and mandatory masks if the percentage of people infected with COVID-19 falls rapidly, the Romanian Minister of Health announced.

Currently, the average number of registered new cases is over 20,000 a day, but authorities say it is on a downward trend.

“The last restriction to be lifted is the wearing of a mask indoors,” said Alexandru Rafila. “Besides, we will probably be able to return to normal life, and I hope we will be able to reject the state of anxiety that has been going on for almost two years.”

The minister stressed that restrictions should be removed gradually so that people do not forget that they are responsible for protecting others.

“We cannot rule out other variants of the coronavirus, but they could only affect the most vulnerable or certain specific groups of the population,” Rafila said. “I hope this is the last pandemic wave that is causing big problems.”
