From today, April 24, Romania began sealing vehicles transporting Ukrainian agricultural products. This was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Security in the Telegram channel.
The decision to seal Ukrainian transit cargo was made following a meeting between the Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine Mykola Solsky and his colleague from Romania, Petre Dai. From the message of the Ukrainian customs, it follows that the customs authorities of Romania will install seals on trucks with agricultural transit goods.
“Carriers transiting through Romania will need to prepare trucks for sealing. You should drive up to the border only after fulfilling the specified conditions,” the service said in a statement.
Before the start of the Russian military operation, most of the grain from Ukraine was exported through the Black Sea ports. After the outbreak of hostilities, the European Union approved a temporary trade liberalization regime with Ukraine, its effect is calculated until June of this year. In particular, import duties for Ukrainian agricultural products were abolished, thereby Ukraine received the right to export grain by land.
On April 15, Hungary and Poland banned the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, on April 17, a similar ban was introduced by the Slovak authorities, and on April 19 – Bulgaria. The European Commission criticized such measures, the European Union began to check the actions of Hungary and Poland.
