After falling out of the highest competition, Podbrezová is on the second league map for the third season. In the autumn of 2019, she wintered in 7th place, and a year later in fourth place. The fact that he premieres at the top of the table for the first time was due to the only foreign coach working on our second league scene. We discussed the Czech coach Roman Skuhravý on the topic of the recently completed second league autumn.
WE EVALUATE THE AUTUMN PART OF THE SECOND FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2021/22 – II. PART
After the 7th round, when Podbrezová was in 4th place, she lost two points in Humenná and Skalica and a point in Banská Bystrica, you said that you wanted to get as many points as possible and you basically do not decide what position it will be enough for. You finally got forty, which means that you overwinter on the 1st place. Satisfaction?
“I cannot think of satisfaction or dissatisfaction. As well as my work, I also evaluate the staff. I start from the given situations and we are gradually trying to improve, because it is not possible without analysis. It is a clear matter that the way we started the work was more rough. I wasn’t absolutely shocked, on the contrary, I would be surprised if it were otherwise.
The fact that we have improved over time was mainly due to systematic work, and thanks to the analyzes, we have improved by repeating in training in key situations. It was most visible on the defensive phase. In the last matches, since the home loss with Komárno, we have received a minimum of goals. Only two in eight matches. The biggest shift occurred in the organization of the game. We have laid the foundation so that we can be even better in the spring. ”
You scored 39 goals, which is the most together with Košice. Interestingly, while in the first half you recorded only nine, in the second up to thirty. How do you explain that?
“You know, I am absolutely convinced that this will continue. If the opponent is full of strength, keeps a compact defense and an organized block, it is much harder to open it. Even in connection with the fact that these things are not yet as experienced as we would need. Given that there is also a competitive environment that we have and create, we can help each other with changing players. That is the basis of these numbers. ”
While you suffered the only loss outside in the 1st round in Humenné (0: 1), you stayed at home on the shield of your opponents up to twice: with Skalica (1: 3) and with Komárno (2: 3). Which of these losses do you consider the most unnecessary?
“Not one, because I know you can’t lose without losing. Losing will teach you the most if you can evaluate it. If we hadn’t lost these matches, we might not have been able to fight other fights. Those matches were very instructive, they helped us in humility. I was not surprised by the losses, because the competition is demanding and balanced, which can be seen in the fact that up to six clubs are fighting for the highest places. ”
If you had to choose a match in which you were the most satisfied with the performance of your charges and a duel in which least, which would it be?
“After losing to Komárno, we played more successful matches. He was very good against Šamorín, in which we lacked up to five players of the basic line-up, but we still gave a concentrated performance. We showed the top performance after the 25th minute of the cup match against Trnava. It was a demonstration of how the team had moved.
The last match with Humenné was also very strong. We were most worried in Dubnica, it was our fourth match in ten days. And after a three-hour trip to the venue, we were drawn. Paradoxically, I appreciate all the more that we gained three points. ”

The most experienced players are Godál and Grendel, but the most productive were the youngsters Galčík, who scored 7 goals and scored 8 assists, and Kováčik (4 + 5). Did that surprise you?
“When I got into negotiations with Podbrezová, I knew that the team has potential and I saw it in connection with my way of working. Being younger players is more productive is a coincidence, but of course of quality. Because if we were successful in something, it was that the right side of us started to work abnormally, where the vast majority of offensive actions went. As a result, these boys made the most of the numbers. But it would definitely not be possible without experienced players, because the most important thing for this team is a competitive environment. ”
We will not ask who shone and if anyone disappointed, but who recorded the most significant performance progress?
“Everyone has moved on. It can be seen on the fitness numbers, on the Instat numbers. These are indisputable things. In my eyes, Bakaľa and Kukoľ made the biggest progress. Thanks to what “Kuki” performed, we managed a few tough matches. I must say that he is one of those who made me the most happy. But I praise everyone, because without each other we would not be where we are. ”
Will the fight for promotion and participation in the playoffs be only a matter for the top five teams, or should Košice also be considered?
“In my opinion, Košice has the most experienced and very well composed staff. By playing many more matches outside in the fall, they will return to the home stadium in the spring. They will definitely shuffle the cards. The one who is most prepared in the spring will succeed. ”
Who do you think is the most serious competitor for direct promotion?
“Ourselves! We will be our most serious competitor. ”
Do you consider it an advantage that you start spring with a domestic duel against Banská Bystrica?
“I don’t know if it’s an advantage, but it’s definitely a huge motivation. I am already looking forward to that match, because Banská Bystrica is not where it is. Whether by the composition or the execution team. ”
Is Podbrezová preparing to strengthen her staff in a big way before the spring retaliation?
“I am happy, and that was one of the moments why I went to Podbrezová that we know which way we want to go. For us, the greatest treasures lie in our youth and we will gradually incorporate talented boys into the team. Of course, if there was an opportunity to really improve the team, we would go for it. But the most important thing is that we stay together. ”
