Once with, once without Roman Reigns. Here’s how WWE played Saturday and Sunday in Mexico.
Current viewership in the United States, WWE extended to Mexico over the weekend.
On Saturday (July 22nd) and Sunday (July 23rd) live events took place in well-filled arenas in Mexico City and Monterrey. WWE spoke of over 25,000 viewers on both nights.
There was a very special attraction for the fans on Saturday.

Roman Reigns at a WWE Live Event: It doesn’t happen every day!
The show in the Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City offered a main event with Roman Reigns.
The Undisputed WWE Champion has been appearing at hand-picked non-television events for some time now.
In the final match of the event on Saturday, the “Tribal Chief” defeated Lucha Libre legend Rey Mysterio.
It was only the eighth match of the year for Reigns – five of which were at premium live events and the other three at the classic house shows.

In fact, Reigns had already recorded a win over Rey Mysterio on June 17 at a non-broadcast event in Cincinnati, Ohio. On March 4, he defeated Sami Zayn (a rematch to the previous PLE match at Elimination Chamber in February) at a house show in Toronto, Canada.
With a new contract, Reigns has significantly reduced his wrestling stint since the summer of 2022 – at the current rate, the final bill for 2023 should probably not be much more than 15 matches.
Roman’s next match is the “Tribal Combat” against his cousin Jey Uso at „SummerSlam“ on August 5 in Detroit, Michigan. Before that, the 38-year-old will also appear on Friday’s SmackDown in New Orleans, Louisiana.

(1) Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley def. Becky Lynch and Natalya in a Triple Threat Match; Ripley pinned Natalya with the Riptide.

(2) Cody Rhodes won a match against Damian Priest with the Cross Rhodes.
(3) Matt Riddle teamed up with Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde of the LWO. They defeated the Imperium trio consisting of Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.
(4) Shayna Baszler defeated Ronda Rousey by disqualification when Rousey used a chair. A wild brawl then had to be ended by officials.
(5) World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins def. NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio via stomp. Rollins fended off interference from Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley.
(6) WWE-US-Champion Austin Theory bes. Santos Escobar.

(7) WWE Women’s Champion Asuka defeated Charlotte and Shotzi in a Triple Threat Match; Asuka pinned Shotzi after Flair had her natural selection against Shotzi.
(8) Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns def. Rey Mysterio. Afterwards Dominik Mysterio attacked his father. But Rey fought back and sent the fans home happily after a 619 against “Dirty” Dom.
According to WWE, the show achieved the highest ticket sales and record merchandise sales of any event in the Mexican capital.
