It is still difficult for Roman Kostomarov to restore limb mobility during rehabilitation. This was reported to RBC Sport by two sources surrounded by the skater.

“Now the best rehabilitation specialists work with Roman. They are trying hard to restore mobility, but it is difficult for him to exercise, ”one of RBC’s interlocutors said.

Another source also said that the Olympic champion is having an extremely difficult time during his rehabilitation, but his condition has not worsened and has remained stable over the past few days.

RBC Sport turned to Denis Protsenko, the head physician of Kommunarka, and Oksana Domnina, the figure skater’s wife, for comment.

Kostomarov has been in Kommunarka since January 10, where he was hospitalized due to pneumonia. The head physician of the hospital, Denis Protsenko, said on February 16 that the 46-year-old skater had a total lung lesion on admission due to a viral and bacterial infection with minimal chances of survival. During this time, Kostomarov underwent several amputations on the hands and feet, as well as two strokes. At the beginning of this week, Sport-Express reported that the state of Kostomarov’s body was no longer deteriorating. Specialists are working with the 46-year-old figure skater, developing the mobility of the limbs and restoring normal lung function. Kostomarov, paired with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the Turin Olympics, as well as the 2004 and 2005 World Championships and three European championships.
