Head coach of Odessa “Chernomorets” Roman Grigorchuk, summing up the results of yesterday’s match with Kovalivsky “Kolos” (1:0) in the 17th round of the Ukrainian championship, assessed the performance of his team throughout the autumn period of the championship.

“Satisfaction and pride for our players. Because this was the main thing in this situation. And not just winning, but playing with faith in your style, in the game itself and its construction. I say “Bravo!” and “Thank you!” to all the players, because they are just great. This is me summing up not just today’s game, but the entire period of the autumn part of the championship.

We have experienced and heard a lot over the past month of analyzes and impressions from different people. Even though I knew this, I once again received confirmation that the most important thing for the fans is that the team wins. I agree that you need to win, because the result is the most important thing. But the future of football itself as a social phenomenon, a sport and, if you like, a show – everything should lie not only in the result. Perhaps the time will come when the quality of the game itself will be more important for people and fans will learn to understand football more and more deeply. Then the analysis will be different.

I repeat: I told the team “Bravo!”, because they play football very, very seriously. The team plays football and has a complex style. But this is a style that has a future. Of course, a lot of work needs to be done on finishing the attack and the like. There are aspects that need to be improved and leveled up, but this is what we want. Why did I just say that I am very pleased and we are all very happy.

Today we won absolutely in our style, having a huge advantage over the opponents, controlling the game, leading the game and managing everything on the field. We didn’t score as many as we would have liked for such quality football, but thank God we won. This is a very important thing. Today we gave our fans both victory and normal football. I’m not saying it’s perfect football, but it’s good enough and good enough. And this makes us happy. Today is a good football day for Chernomorets,” Grigorchuk said at a press conference after the match with Kolos.
