A race if not decisive, certainly very important for both teams. There was a great match at the Olimpico between two teams playing good football, proactive, dynamic and offensive. AC Milan won 2-1, returning to success after two consecutive defeats and after the complicated passage of the round in the Europa League. For its part, Roma have absolutely not deserved, they tried until the end to straighten a match in which Fonseca’s team she made a mistake a little too much in the defensive phase and failed to be particularly effective in the offensive one. Inevitably, in a match like this, the difference was made by the events (see the penalty granted to Milan after ‘on field review’), but globally, Milan did more in the first half, recording their record of important shots (12). The fact is that Pioli’s team does not let Inter run away but pushes away a very dangerous opponent like Roma in the race for the Champions League.

As for the choices at the start of the race, Pioli ranks Tomori and not Romagnoli, relies on the amount of Saelemaekers and the verve of a discovery Rebic with Ibra in attack. Rome with Cristante in defense, Borja Mayoral only offensive terminal for the flat fee of Dzeko. Departure launched for the Rossoneri who, especially from the left, create considerable problems for Roma. Ibra tries the conclusion three times in a few minutes, Tomori scores but the goal is rightly canceled for offside, Ibra also scores but a new (and right) offside denies him the joy of the goal. Roma tries to shake up and get out of the impasse at the start of the match. Mkhitaryan scores, but the action is stopped for a previous foul by Mancini. Rebic engages Pau Lopez, Kjaer hits the crossbar e Pilgrims he sees the conclusion rejected with a sure shot by Tomori first and then by Tonali. The race is intense and Calabria suffers a stomp from Fazio just inside the penalty area, we go to the on field review and guide grants the penalty that Kessié transforms.

In the second half, Roma raises the pressure, they want to rebalance the fate of the match but the first goal ball is from Milan. Later it arrives the equal scored by Veretout who places an unstoppable right-footed shot for Donnarumma. After losing Calhanoglu in the interval, Pioli has to replace Ibra for an adductor problem. Milan does not give up and always accelerates from the left. Pau Lopez disengages incorrectly, Saelemaekers recovers and verticalizes for Rebic: pirouette and powerful and precise left-footed conclusion for the 2-1. Fonseca plays all the offensive cards: they enter El Shaarawy, Bruno Peres, Pedro that can’t affect that much. Milan defends very well and starts again, almost scoring with Leao, miss Rebic and try to give substance to the midfield with Krunic e Meité. Roma try to throw their hearts over the obstacle, Mkhitaryan it is always dangerous but inaccurate. It ends 2-1, Milan wins and remains hooked to Inter, Rome slips to fifth place.
