Rolls-Royce Silent Shadow, electric exuberance to the fullest

The first Rolls-Royce history electric has been confirmed by the CEO of the British, Torsten Müller-Ötvös. It is about the – until now called – Silent Shadow, a vehicle that does not have a date yet for its arrival on the market, but that – with this confirmation – becomes imminent.

Let an ultra-luxury brand like Rolls-Royce define embrace electromobility it is not by chance. Müller-Ötvös himself assures that the characteristics of electric vehicles make all the sense in the world for the company, because “electrification fits perfectly with Rolls-Royce. We are not known for roaring engines or the sound of our exhausts, and that is a great benefit, “he said.

However, the executive declined to give further clues as to when this vehicle will be available. Asked by Bloomberg about the date of its launch, it limited itself to confirming that it will be in this decade, and that the moment of its release “It is still a secret, but of course it will be a totally new Rolls-Royce.”

The brand – which is under the umbrella of BMW – registered the brand “Silent Shadow”, something that pays tribute to old classic machines from the British manufacturer such as the “Silver Shadow”, a vehicle that was sold between 1965 and 1980. It is expected to be built on a platform that is an evolution of the recently launched BMW iX.

The pandemic and super luxury: Life is now

The automotive market is hit by many factors. Either the change of priorities regarding the purchase of durable goods such as cars, or the lack of components to meet the backward demand, and even the increase in prices of the same.

Müller-Ötvös asegura que none of this pandemic scenario has affected Rolls-Royce sales. In fact, they claim that this year the manufacturing and sales capacity was exhausted earlier than in previous years, increasing in the last quarter of 2020. The reason? Brand customers they want to enjoy life.

“Many of us have witnessed how life can end quickly, so it is good to enjoy life today and not put it off for years to come.”, assured the executive.

With a healthy market, and customers eager to spend large sums of money to enjoy post-pandemic life, the new normal for Rolls-Royce portends an excellent outlook for its Silent Ghost … whenever they define putting it on the market.
