The Trent XWB-84s that propel the A350s have reached their first major overhaul, according to Rolls-Royce. In a small number of engines, wear has been found in the so-called Intermediate Pressure Compressor. The manufacturer states that the problem can be solved relatively quickly, without great costs.
However, the European aviation organization EASA has sent out a memo to users of the A350 to give aircraft that four to five years extra attention. According to Rolls-Royce, this concerns approximately one hundred aircraft.
In Europe, Finnair is the only airline that flies A350s of that age. The other aircraft in the series fly in the Middle East and Asia.
