Laurine Marie didn’t have much time to come back down to earth. “We don’t really realize yet,” she admits. The young player of roller-hockey became world champion, Monday, September 13, 2021, in Italy. 24 hours later, she was back in Caen, welcomed at the station by her club. Two days later, it was from her office at the Conquerors that she told us about her “incredible” experience.
A first world title for the Blue
Laurine Marie has been a French international since 2014. The world title has been skating for a long time afterwards. “We already had bronze at the world championships and gold at the European championships, but the women had never been world champions,” she said. Les Bleues were aiming for a medal in the competition. The 5-0 victory over the United States in the last group game allowed them to imagine the most beautiful of metals.
After this first phase, France had four wins in four games, for 42 goals scored (with a 27-0 card against India) and none conceded. Argentina, Colombia and Spain then fell in turn in the final phase against the Tricolores.
Always passionate
For Laurine Marie, it is the consecration. The 25-year-old young woman is one of the two Caen women in the group with Camille Gandit, who has the distinction of having known the French women’s ice hockey team. Laurine, she has been addicted to rollerblading from an early age.
I started at 7 years old. My brother was already doing it, and I always wanted to do like him.
At 13, the defender left Luc-sur-Mer to join Caen. She has not since left.
