The importance that Rolex has had over the decades also in the collective imagination was fundamental to “forge” the idea of the wristwatch as a common object but also endowed with beauty and style. Most of us identify this historian’s watches brand as a symbol of luxury and pomp but also of great care in the creation phase of its products but numerous peculiarities that we know today have, if not invented, at least “made common” also for the other brands. The Daytona series, for example, has practically developed the idea of the “sports” watch as we understand it today.

Like so many other models developed during the same period as the Daytona, it began to be conceived starting from the middle of the last century: the name is freely “inspired” by the beach of Daytona Beachon the California coast, the scene of numerous and reckless car races, which have had enormous relevance even outside the States in the first half of the twentieth century. Rolex began to supply pilots with their own wrist chronographs, in practice the “trailblazers” of what would later become the first versions of the Daytona available for private trade.

Similarly to other very famous watch series, the Daytonas are also in effect investment watches, and the value can be very varied and diversified, essentially because not all Daytonas had the same price at the time of launch, and not all. they enjoy the same “fame”.
A Daytona can be worth important figures, but you have to use the reference model to understand its value: a Daytona made of steel and gold can be worth from 14 to 25 thousand euros (ref. 116503), it goes up from 25 thousand to 40 thousand for 116528 models. More expensive models are the 116500 which easily exceed 50-60 thousand euros if in excellent condition.
