Wilmar Roldán was one of the main protagonists of the match between Boca Juniors and Cruzeiro in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16. With just 9 seconds gone, the Colombian referee sent off Luis Advíncula of the Argentine team for a hard tackle on Lucas Romero. Of course, this decision by the main referee was very important for the Brazilian team to equal the series (2-2 on aggregate).
Following the decision to give Advíncula a red card and the corner kick he awarded to the home team despite the ball appearing to have gone out earlier (in the second goal), Sergio Romero was critical of referee Roldán. Now, was it really the Colombian’s fault that Boca Juniors was eliminated in the round of 16 of the Conmebol Copa Sudamericana? The history of the ‘Xeneize’ says otherwise and exposes the squad.

In addition to Wilmar Roldán’s expulsion of Luis Advíncula, the red cards that expose Boca Juniors
Although for many Boca Juniors fans Wilmar Roldán was the main culprit for the team’s elimination, the fact is that this is not the first time that the ‘Xeneize’ has been sent off in an important match. It already happened in the last Copa Libertadores final against Fluminense and there are other precedents that indicate that this already seems to be a common occurrence in the Buenos Aires team. The Colombian referee, in this case, is just one more.
