As evidenced by the distribution network of the parent company ASLatvenergo“announcement to the Nasdaq Riga stock exchange, the shareholders’ meeting of the distribution network on Wednesday considered Lusver’s application for resignation from the position of a member of the board and decided to remove him from the respective position.
Lusver was responsible for the company’s development issues, including the organization of the electricity connection process.
Latvenergo points out that in connection with public information about several companies that may have made dishonest attempts to obtain a permit for electricity generation in mandatory procurement, Latvenergo’s Board instructed Andim Pinkulis, Chairman of the Board of Sadales tīkls, to ensure full clarification of the circumstances. Sadales tīkls also cooperates with the Ministry of Economics in conducting inspections in cogeneration plants and has submitted an application to the State Police with a request to assess the situation.
Lūveris, a former member of the board of the “Distribution Network”, believes that his decision to leave the position can help to find out the circumstances objectively as soon as possible. “For my part, I have done my best to help find out the causes of the situation as soon as possible and take responsibility for the shortcomings in the management of the connection process in the Distribution Network as a whole. In the process of connection, but it is already clear that the internal control mechanism has not been implemented effectively. in a statement expressed by Lucer.
Lūsveris has been a member of the board of “Sadales tīkls” since 2012, according to the archives of the agency LETA. He has previously worked for “Rīgas elektrotīklos”, SIA “ABB” and “Latvenergo” concern.
Ivita Bidere, a representative of Latvenergo, pointed out that it is not yet known what will happen to the vacant position on the Board of the Distribution Network. Latvenergo will decide on this later.
Pinkulis, Baiba Priedīte, Raimonds Skrebs and Inga Āboliņa continue to work in the Board of “Sadales tīkls”.
As reported, State police after Ministry of Economy (EM) application has initiated criminal proceedings for the actions of “Sadales tīkls” and SIA “Rīgas energia”, possibly by cheating on permits for electricity generation in mandatory procurement. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for attempted fraud on a large scale. The case has been opened as a matter of fact and is being investigated by the Office for Combating Organized Crime.
The status of a suspect is currently inappropriate for anyone.
It has also been reported that in accordance with the issued permit “Rīgas enerģija”, the production of electricity in cogeneration had to start by October 5 of this year. In order to make sure that the plant has started generating electricity in cogeneration, there must be a certificate signed by the Distribution Network recognizing the power plant as valid for parallel operation with the system and a permit to connect the power plant to the Distribution Network for a probationary period of not less than 72 hours.
However, during the filming of the TV3 show “Nekā Personīga”, the company “Rīgas enerģija” no electricity generation was detected in the territory, therefore the MoE asks the State Police to investigate possible fraudulent activities.
“Nekā Personīga” revealed several companies that did not complete the projects on time, but kept the licenses, supplying power from a portable generator in the “Distribution Network” test. If these companies start operating and take the opportunity to trade electricity at an increased price, it will cost consumers up to € 100 million in OIK payments over the next 10 years.
“Rīgas enerģija” has already announced that it categorically rejects the information in the public sphere about possible fraud in connection with the production of electricity in mandatory procurement. An internal commission of inquiry has been set up in the “Distribution Network”, which, among other things, examines the actions of the responsible employees in connection with the operation of cogeneration plants. Three employees were suspended during the investigation.
Lusver, who was responsible for organizing the work on the connection process, was asked to provide a comprehensive overview of his work on the matter by 30 October.
