He risks in the second set, canceling the advantage of the Swede, then closes without flaws. Now the winner between the Spaniard and Norrie
After Lorenzo Musetti also Jannik Sinner arrives in the round of 16 of Roland Garros. The South Tyrolean overcame Swede Mikael Ymer in three sets (6-1 7-5 6-3) and secured the chance to face Rafael Nadal on Monday in last year’s quarter-final rematch. Riccardo Piatti’s pupil played a great first set in which he served 87% of first balls, scored 11 points out of 13 firsts and scored 13 winners in seven games. In the second set Ymer has grown dramatically, has held up the exchanges from the bottom with more ease and has put our Sinner in difficulty. On 2 all the South Tyrolean saved two break points, but on 3 all he capitulated by mistaking a backhand. The Swede confirmed the break and on the fourth occasion moved up to 5-3. At 5-4 Ymer had a set point but Sinner forced him to make a mistake with his backhand and the South Tyrolean, with a partial of 10 points in a row, got out of the hole reaching the triple set point in his favor. Ymer saved the first chance, but Sinner didn’t miss the second chance by climbing 2 sets to zero.

In the third set Sinner saved 4 break points on 1-1 and as many on 2 even, Ymer instead saved 3 on 1-1 and the tie remained substantially balanced until 4-3. Then Sinner pushed on the gas again, broke and with an ace he secured the first match point which he transformed with the last winning straight of the match. For Sinner it is the second presence in the round of 16 of a Grand Slam after the quarter-final last October when on Philippe Chatrier he lost 7-6 6-4 6-1 against Rafael Nadal.
