The two cult figures “Weber and Breitfuss” celebrate a comeback on TV. Roland Düringer reveals what fans can expect from the new production.
The ORF sitcom “MA 2412” became a cult series in the late 1990s and reached an audience of millions. After two decades, the two legendary TV officials Mr. Weber and Ing. Breitfuss are returning to the TV screens, “Heute” reported.

Two new films with Roland Düringer and Alfred Dorfer were completed in the spring in Vienna and Lower Austria. Under the title “Weber und Breitfuss” they should be shown on ORF 1 in 2023.
No reissue of “MA 2412”
Like Roland Düringer im “Today”-Interview explained, the new production is not a new edition of “MA 2412”, it is much more a spin-off. “It is not ‘MA 2412’ that celebrates a comeback, but the two characters Weber and Breitfuss are returning. There was a communication problem. There is no MA 2412 and there is no more office”, underlines the comedian. Both films are also missing Santa Claus, Herr Claus.
“It’s just about the two characters who are retired and keep meeting by chance in a place where they can’t get rid of each other and have to go on an adventure. That’s the basic idea,” says Düringer.
Sicherheitz directed again
Directed by Harald Sicherheititz, author of the previous four seasons and of the feature film “MA 2412 – Die Staatsdiener”. The scripts were written by Alfred Dorfer and Roland Düringer.
In addition to the two comedians, Monica Weinzettl, Andrea Händler, Eva Billisich, Nina Proll, David Jakob, Julia Edtmeier, Roland Penzinger, Johannes Silberschneider, Angelika Strahser, Martin Brambach and Anton Noori will also be present.
The content: The two legendary officials of the no less legendary office for Christmas decorations, Michael Weber (Alfred Dorfer) and Eng. Engelbert Breitfuss (Roland Düringer), are “sent” in early retirement by the minister currently in charge. They happily swear never to cross again.
But of course it went differently and Weber and Breitfuss, despite all avoidance strategies, meet again and again – and in all possible and impossible situations.
In the two specials, the two go to the bottom of the two-class medicine mills and strange machinations in the rehab center before teaching fear as extras in the film.
