“Kobe Fashion Plaza” reopened as “ROKKO i PARK” on March 1st
Kobe Fashion Plaza is a commercial complex located on Rokko Island in Kobe (Higashinada Ward, Kobe City). The commercial building, which had been closed for a long time, was reborn as “ROKKO i PARK” on March 1st.
When the facility opened in 1977 along with a hotel and an art museum, its futuristic appearance was a hot topic of conversation. Over the years, tenants have continued to leave the area, and after the movie theater closed, the area resembled an abandoned mall.In recent years, the commercial building has been closed and the area has become deserted.
◆ A must-visit is the “indoor athletic facility”
The museum has been completely renovated, and the first opening was on March 1st. A notable tenant that is likely to attract people from outside the island is the large-scale sports entertainment facility “KOBE SUPER STADIUM” on the 8th floor (2,900 yen/120 minutes on weekdays, etc.), ranging from athletics to large-scale sports facilities. There will be plenty of activities on standby where you can enjoy moving your body in time with the screen.

On the 5th floor, “GIGA Factory GIGA Kobe”, which has carefully selected tools and work items, will open for the first time in western Japan. The product lineup is different from that of a home improvement store, and there are almost no places where you can see the actual products all at once, so discerning workers have been lining up in front of the cash register since the first day.
◆ “What kind of stores will there be?” is a hot topic among islanders.
Meanwhile, the daily necessities stores “Daiso” and “THREEPY” and the drug store “Kirindo” have also opened, which will become tenants closely connected to the daily lives of the 19,376 islanders (as of January 2020). Additionally, a two-floor supermarket called “Yamada Store” is scheduled to open in May.
“THREEPPY” is gaining momentum as a sister brand of the 100 yen shop “Daiso”
A resident who has lived on Rokko Island for about 10 years said, “This is a facility that islanders have been waiting for.Currently, there are Daiei and Toho supermarkets on the island, but Toho is scheduled to close, so the new supermarket is attractive. The opening of the store has not yet been decided. It seems like there are some spaces that aren’t there, so I’m interested to see what kind of stores will be put in there,” he said, adding that this has become a hot topic among islanders.
The business hours of “ROKKO i PARK” vary depending on the tenant. Details can be found on the official website.
