“I now feel calmer than ever, maybe even liberated. As I always say: in my relationship with Frank everything was possible, but nothing was allowed. If I wanted to go to the city for no reason, then I couldn’t. There always had to be a reason are,” says Rogier in Story.
Rogier thinks he was ‘a show pony’ for Frank. “Frank lives exclusively for the outside world as a kind of noble bon-vivant, when in fact he is of very simple origin.” ‘The arrogance of uncertainty’, Rogier always called it.

Rogier indicates that he loved Frank ‘dearly’, but according to him that was at the expense of himself. “I was very sad about our breakup.” He even went to see a psychologist.
After the breakup with Frank, things didn’t go well for Rogier. “Because I suddenly got all the freedom I was quite unhinged at a certain point.” For days he celebrated house parties, which involved alcohol and drugs. In retrospect, Rogier thinks it was a coping process for him. “For me it was an escape. Away from my sorrow.” He used drugs for a year and a half. “I always knew that when my sadness was gone, I would stop.”

Roger has now found peace. “Looks like I’m finally growing up.” And what will he do with his work? “I’ll see exactly what it will be.”
Rogier’s ex, Frank, was a guest in a while ago Aran on Tour, in which he talked about the split between the two. Watch the entire interview in the video below.
