Roger Pontare (71) is one of Sweden’s most prominent artists. He has represented the country in Eurovision twice, and has definitely left his mark on Swedish music culture.

In late January, the colorful artist was taken by the police in Örnsköldsvik after a wobbly drive. It turned out that Pontare was driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.7. Now he admits to having driven under the influence of drugs.

In questioning, the 71-year-old explained to the police that there was a lot of alcohol the night before the incident. The next day he woke up in a hotel still feeling drugged – but he wanted to get home as soon as possible.

A witness was driving behind Pontare and noticed the car swerving from right to left, and therefore decided to alert the police.

Regrets

Pontare was unable to keep the car on the road and eventually drove into a pile of snow. That’s when the police arrived on the scene.
