Roger Michell – The star director is dead

Star director Roger Michell has passed away at the age of 65. It reports Michell’s agent.

“It is with great sadness that the family of the director, author and father of Harry, Rosie, Maggie and Sparrow, Roger Michell, announce that he died at the age of 65 on September 22,” he said in a statement issued to the News City AFP, reproduced by several media.

Michell is perhaps best known as the genius behind the romantic comedy “Notting Hill” with Julia Roberts (53) and Hugh Grant (61).

Michell is also behind successful films such as “Changing Lanes” and “Venus”, and has also worked with some of the biggest Hollywood stars, including Helen Mirren (76), Ben Affleck (49) and Samuel L. Jackson (72).

He began his career in theater, and has, among other things, won a Bafta award for the film “Persuasion”, and nominated for three Golden Globes.

In private, he was married for many years to the actress Kate Buffery (64), and together they had the children Rosanna and Harry.

In 2002, he married Anna Maxwell Martin (44) with whom he has daughters Maggie and Nancy. Eight years later, the couple divorced.
