When two world stars like Roger Federer and Robert De Niro work together, a successful product can only come out. And that’s what happened for the promotional spot created by Swiss Tourism, of which the tennis phenomenon is the ambassador.
To sponsor the country’s beauties for the summer, it was decided to involve a movie legend in addition to the eight-time Wimbledon champion. “I was really excited to have a global campaign to invite people to discover what Switzerland has to offer, because I am very proud to come from such a fascinating country,” says Federer, protagonist of the video, online and available anywhere in the world, lasting a minute and a half.
Video which sees the Swiss trying to persuade De Niro to participate in a film shot about Switzerland. However, the actor’s response is negative, because “there is no action, it is too perfect a country” And so, while the images of the Alps, lakes, cities and nature intact pass, the Hollywood star declines the invitation, advising Federer to try to involve Tom Hanks.
And in conclusion, the message: “When you need a vacation without ‘drama’, you need Switzerland”, to underline how, in the time of Covid19, the country was a safe and peaceful destination.
“This Hollywood touch in our campaign will draw more attention to Switzerland and its spectacular nature,” commented Martin Nydegger, Director of Swiss Tourism.
