Three knee operations in 18 months are also a word for the maestro. After Roger Federer has not been able to play a game since his quarter-final at Wimbledon and had to undergo further treatment on the affected knee, tennis fans fear for the health of the Swiss.
Federer left the time for a comeback open, before his operation he only announced on “Instagram” that he would have to walk on crutches for a few weeks and be absent for several months.
At the end of September, the Swiss had announced that a return to the training area would require “a little patience”. As the successful tennis coach Darren Cahill revealed, Federer can now train again and a start at the Australian Open is likely.

“I know he’s training a lot on the pitch at the moment and we’re pretty sure he’ll play the Australian Open,” Cahill said on Sportsday Radio. The former coach of stars like Simona Halep, Andre Agassi, Andy Murray or Ana Ivanovic was impressed by Federer’s hard work. “At his age it is impressive that he even does it. He’s trying to reach 21 (number of Grand Slam titles, editor’s note).”
